Here are our top five events happening in Bethany Beach, Rehoboth Beach and Lewes during September.

Sept. 7: Bethany Beach Boardwalk Arts Festival

Browse handcrafted art at the beach during the 41st Annual Bethany Beach Boardwalk Arts Festival on Saturday, Sept. 7. This one-day art event showcases jewelry, glass, pottery, paintings, photography, woodworking and more. There will be over 100 juried artists, both locally and from around the country, displaying their art on the Bethany Beach Boardwalk.

Sept. 7: Sandcastle Contest

If you’re in Rehoboth Beach, be sure to check out the astonishing sandcastle sculptures during the 40th Annual Sandcastle Contest. Beginning at 10 a.m., each team and individual contestant will express their artistic creativity to create their sand sculpture. This competition will be held just off the boardwalk, on the beach in front of Funland.

Sept. 7–8: Nanticoke Indian Powwow

Learn more about the Nanticoke tribe’s culture and history during the Nanticoke Indian Powwow. This annual event, at the Nanticoke Indian Museum, will feature interactive activities, drum performances and singers. Vendors will also be selling and displaying Native arts and crafts, jewelry, blankets, clothing, food and more.

Sept. 15–21: Shakespeare Festival

Experience a week-long festival of all things Shakespeare at the fourth annual Shakespeare Festival at Lewes Public Library. Festival activities include lectures, workshops, a concert and live outdoor performance of a Shakespeare play.

Sept. 28: Southern Delaware Wine, Food & Music Festival

Sample the best of Southern Delaware at the Southern Delaware Wine, Food & Music Festival (SoDel Fest) at Independence Clubhouse in Millsboro. This is a great opportunity to sample food from award-winning chefs. Over 20 of coastal Delaware’s top restaurants will be there, as well as more than 50 wines, live music and more.
