Celebrate the Fourth of July in Lewes
If you’re visiting Lewes during the Fourth of July, you won’t want to miss the annual tradition of the Old Fashioned 4th of July in Lewes.
Lewes Old Fashioned 4th of July
This long-standing tradition in the City of Lewes continues. Enjoy an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration with games, parades, and fireworks.
The day begins with old-fashioned children’s games on Second Street. The whole street will be closed and filled with games that all ages will enjoy.
On the water, the Lewes Independence Day Boat Parade will be floating down the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal to Fisherman’s Wharf. Parade judges will be awarding a grand prize trophy, along with first, second and third place ribbons for the best boats.
After the Boat Parade is the one-of-a-kind Doo-Dah Parade. Beginning near Lloyd’s Market on Savannah Road, this parade will head down Kings Highway to Second Street and end back near Lloyd’s Market. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in the parade.
The day ends with a spectacular firework display from a barge off Lewes Beach. These dazzling fireworks can be seen from the Roosevelt Inlet to Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal.
